Six weeks before

Make reservations with us. As we do not require a deposit or credit card information in advance on most moves, feel free to hold a booking on the date you are planning to move. We're flexible and will do our best to accomodate you if your plans change.

Reserve car transport with us if you are planning to send your car with a car carrrier.

If you're moving long distance, make your travel arrangements (airline, hotel, maps, etc.

Save all moving receipts as some expenses may be tax deductible, check the current tax codes for reuirements.

Four weeks before

If you're driving, get your car serviced.

Request your medical records from your doctors.

Place legal, financial, insurance and important documents (passports, school records, diplomas, etc.) in a safe and accessible file which you will keep with you throughout your move.

Back up important computer files to a floppy disk.

Two weeks before

Notify your utility companies and service providers (phone - local and long distance, electric, gas, cable or satellite TV, pool man, gardener, trash, etc.) of your move and when to cease service.

Register with the utlility companies and service providers at your new address.

Purchase moving insurance coverage.

Notify the post office of your change of address.

Prepare change-of-address postcards with your new address for:

• Friends and family
• Government agencies
• Credit card companies
• DMV
• Insurance companies
• Accountant
• Voter registration office
• Magazines and newspapers

One week before

Pack bags with change of clothes, medicines, special foods, valuables, etc. to carry you through the first couple of days in your new home for local moves and for approximately 2 weeks on long distance moves while your belongings are en route to your new location.

Arrange your banking needs by closing or transferring your bank account, if appropriate, and picking up items from your safety deposit box.

Mail change of address postcards.

One day before

• Confirm your move with us.
• Confirm your travel arrangements.
• Disconnect gas appliances.
• Remove hanging fixtures.
• Pad corners, stairways, entry and hallways of hour with old sheets and towels.

Moving day

Take with you:

• Car keys
• Keys for new Home
• Map of the town you are moving to
• Directions to your new home
• Our telelphone number
• Cash, credit cards, jewelry
• Bags with clothing, medicines, etc.
• Personal hygiene items
• Documentation of the sale/purchase of your home/s, document folio

After the move

Walk and drive around your new neighborhood and community to orient yourself and your family.

Be bold and enjoy your new surroundings!
